This error, shown in the SurfBouncer log, is usually an indication of no connectivity to the internet. Before going further, first ensure that you are connected and can access web sites without SurfBouncer enabled. Also, read the page on Ports and try the solutions offered there first to ensure your local firewall is not blocking the connection. In most cases, these steps will resolve this error.
In order to achieve maximum performance, SurfBouncer uses the UDP protocol to transmit data. Occasionally an ISP will block UDP on their network. We also operate TCP servers to resolve UDP blocking issues for those that have them. If UDP works for you, do not use the TCP server as performance over TCP is not as good as over UDP. To switch to the TCP server do the following:
1 - Make sure the SurfBouncer OpenVPN connection is disconnected
2 - Download the TCP configuration file here. (right click and 'save link as')
3 - Use this file to replace the current file in your config directory.
--For Windows XP users using the Windows 32 version of SurfBouncer, the location of the config directory is C:\Program Files\SurfBouncer OpenVPN\config
--For Windows Vista users the location is C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config
--For Mac users download the file and place in your home directory, library, openvpn folder
Launch the application as normal and log in to the server and determine if the problem is resolved.
If the TCP server works for you, there is nothing else for you to do. Please note that if you switch to the TCP server and run any of the port change configs on the Ports page, you will re-set back to the default UDP server.
